The University of Lagos, Akoka, has announced the sales of its Postgraduate form. Prospective students who are interested can now apply online for the UNILAG postgraduate programme.

A postgraduate degree is only available to students who have completed an undergraduate programme in any recognized university.

UNILAG invites applications from qualified candidates who are interested in the following programmes;

• Postgraduate Diploma Programmes (PGD).
• Masters Degree Programmes (i.e. M.Sc., M.Ed., M.A., LL.M, etc).
• Professional Masters Degree Programmes (i.e. MBA, MILD, MILR, MPH, MDSS, MPIA, MPA, MGIS, MSEM, MRPP, MDF, MHDM, MPE, MDM, MTTFL, etc)
• Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programmes.

Requirements for UNILAG Postgraduate Programme

General Requirements for Postgraduate Diplomas/Masters by Coursework

1. Applicants must have a bachelors degree from UNILAG or any other recognized University.
2. Apart from a Bachelors degree, other qualifications (certificates) are accepted but such must be recognized by the Senate of the University of Lagos.
3. After purchasing the form, applicants will be selected via a written or oral examination.
4. Candidates must have completed the National Youth Service Programme.
5. Holders of degrees from an outreach or satellite campus are not eligible to apply.
6. Academic transcripts must reach the Deputy Registrar or Administrative secretary, school of post-graduate studies on or before the session commences.

General Requirements for Masters of Philosophy (M.Phil).

1. Candidates applying for this programme must have a Bachelor’s honors degree from UNILAG or any other approved University with at least a second class upper.
2. Candidates applying with a masters degree must have a CGPA of at least 3.50.
3. All candidates of this programme must contact the respective department for availability of supervisors before applying.
4. A selection process in the form of a written or oral exam may be conducted by the respective departments.
5. Transcripts of Masters Degree or a formal evidence of candidates performance at Masters level will be requested.

General Requirements for Doctor of Philosophy.

1. Aspirants who have obtained a degree in Masters of Philosophy must have a C.G.P.A. of at least 4.0.
2. Aspirants with a degree in Masters of Science (M.SC) must also have a minimum of 4.0 CGPA.
3. All candidates of this programme must contact the respective department for availability of supervisors before applying.
4. A selection process in the form of a written or oral exam may be conducted by the respective departments.
5. Transcripts of Masters Degree or a formal evidence of candidates performance at Masters level will be requested.

How to Apply for the UNILAG Postgraduate Programme

• First of all, check the available courses and requirements above to see if you qualify.
• Visit the UNILAG school of postgraduate studies website at spgs.unilag.edu.ng.
• Click the “Application form” link at the right-hand side. You can also access the UNILAG postgraduate application link here.
• Click on “start a fresh” application”.
• From the list of Application type, select “Postgraduate”. Scroll down and close the terms and conditions.
• Fill in your Names, phone number, and email address correctly (a valid email address is needed).
• Tick the terms and conditions box and click continue.
• The next page contains your details and reference number. Take note of the reference number.
• Print the payment advice.
• Proceed to pay the sum of 22,500 either via bank or online. If you are paying through a bank, you need to generate an RRR code (invoice) and take it to the bank.
• After payment is made, return to the UNILAG postgraduate portal at spgs.unilag.edu.ng.
• Click on the “2018/2019 Application link”, click on “Application form”. For easy access, after making the payment click here to proceed.
• Click on continue application.
• Log in with your reference number and surname in small letters.
• Complete the application form and upload a passport photograph. The passport photograph must be on a white background and must not be more than 15kb in size. The accepted dimensions for the passport is 275 (width) and 314 (height). Check our article on how to resize a photo.
• Click on “submit form” after you have confirmed that all the information are correct. Note that a penalty of 1000 Naira will be charged to make any corrections hereafter.

As time goes on, candidates will be required to upload National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, Degree certificates, and Professional certificates if available.

After applying for the form, you are required to print and laminate the examination pass one week to the examination. This will be used as a means of identification at the exam venue.
