38 Less Competitive Courses in UNIUYO
Like most Federal government-owned Universities in Nigeria, the University of Uyo is competitive. Hence, getting admitted into the University with a low JAMB score is difficult. However, there are courses candidates with a low JAMB UTME score can apply for and easily get admission.
In this article, we will list some less competitive courses in UNIUYO that candidates with a JAMB score below 200 can apply for.
Why do you need this list?
UNIUYO’s JAMB UTME general cut-off mark is 140. This mark only enables candidates to purchase the Post-UTME form, it does not mean that if you score 140 and above, you must be granted admission.
Suppose over 20,000 candidates chose UNIUYO as their first choice in JAMB and out of these 20,000 candidates, 13,000 of them scored 140 and above in the JAMB UTME exam. In that case, these 13,000 candidates can purchase the UNIUYO Post-UTME form but won’t all be admitted.
Why? You may ask.
Of these 13,000 candidates, 2,750 applied for Communication Arts (Mass Communication). Perhaps the University can only admit 400 students for Communication arts annually, this means the remaining students will not be offered admission.
Another course that has a high influx of candidates yearly is Computer science. Let’s assume that 3,000 candidates applied for Computer Science at UNIUYO and the college can only admit 600 candidates yearly into the department, the remaining 2,400 candidates will not be admitted.
Whereas there are courses that do not have up to 500 applicants in each academic session. If you do not mind studying these courses, your chances of gaining admission are significantly higher. These less popular courses often have lower cut-off points and higher acceptance rates, making them a viable option for students seeking admission.
Before choosing any of the courses on our list of less competitive courses at UNIUYO, make sure you have the correct O’level and JAMB subject combination.
