About the LAUTECH ODL Programme
The LAUTECH Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programme is an educational programme by the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Oyo State, Nigeria. This programme offers flexibility as students can learn without being physically present in a classroom.
LAUTECH deploys a learning management system to deliver its lectures online. Students admitted through this programme can study anywhere in the world. However, exams are held within the school premises in each academic session.
Out of the 40 courses offered at LAUTECH, the ODL programme permits candidates/students to choose from 5 courses.

Benefits of the LAUTECH ODL Programme
In this part of the article, we have outlined 3 benefits of the programme;
Flexibility
The LAUTECH ODL Programme is not a full-time programme, hence, students have time to work or pursue other interests while schooling.
Exams are held at the school premises twice yearly and last about two weeks. Students are notified months before the exams giving them time to apply for a work leave (for working students) and prepare.
Degree
At the end of the programme, students are awarded a degree certificate (B.SC) from the prestigious Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. The certificate does not indicate the programme type offered.
NYSC
Graduates of the LAUTECH ODL programme who meet the NYSC requirements are eligible to go for service. Graduates above the age of 30 can apply for an NYSC exemption letter.

Admission Requirements 100-level
Accounting
Applicants must have at least five credit passes in the following subjects;
- Mathematics
- English Language.
- Economics.
- And any other two subjects in either sciences, social science or Arts.
Marketing
Applicants must have at least five credit passes in the following subjects;
- Mathematics.
- English language.
- Economics.
- And any other two subjects from Marketing, Financial Accounting, Geography, Commerce, Government
Agricultural Economics
Candidates applying for Agricultural economics must possess at least a credit pass in any of the following subjects;
- Mathematics
- English Language.
- Chemistry.
- Physics/Economics/Geography.
- Agricultural Science or Biology.
Agricultural Extension and Rural Development
Candidates vying to apply for this course must possess at least a credit in any of the following subjects;
- English Language
- Mathematics.
- Physics.
- Chemistry.
- Biology or Agricultural Science.
Computer Science
Candidates applying for a B.SC in the LAUTECH ODL programme must have at least a credit pass in any of the following subjects;
- English Language.
- Mathematics.
- Physics.
- Chemistry/Biology/Agricultural Science.
- Economics/Geography.
Nursing Science
Applicants for Nursing Science must have at least 5 credits in the following O’level subjects;
- Mathematics.
- English Language.
- Physics.
- Chemistry.
- Biology.
Admission Requirements for 200-Level
Candidates with a National Diploma (OND), A pass in Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognised Polytechnic in Nigeria or an A’level certificate may consider applying to the 200-level of the LAUTECH ODL programme.
Below are the requirements for this category;
Accounting and Marketing
- At least a lower credit in Accounting or Marketing from the OND programme of any recognised polytechnic in Nigeria.
- A pass in Accounting or Marketing from the Higher National Diploma programme of any registered Polytechnic in Nigeria.
- Credit passes in relevant A-level certificate subjects may be considered for admission.
Computer Science
- An Ordinary National Diploma certificate from a recognised Polytechnic in Nigeria with at least a lower credit in Computer Science or other relevant courses will be considered for admission.
- A Higher National Diploma Certificate from a recognised Polytechnic in Nigeria with at least a pass in Computer Science or other relevant course will be considered for admission.
Admission Requirements for 300-Level
Accounting and Marketing
- HND in Accounting or Marketing with a minimum of lower credit from any recognised Polytechnic in Nigeria.
- Third-class degree in Accounting or Marketing
Computer Science
- HND in Computer Science or any related field with a minimum of lower credit from any recognised Polytechnic in Nigeria.
- Third-class degree in Computer Science from a government-approved University.
Agricultural Economics
- HND in Agricultural Economics or any related discipline with a minimum of lower credit from any recognised Polytechnic in Nigeria.
- Third-class degree in Agricultural Economics.
Agricultural Extension and Rural Development
- HND in Agricultural Extension or any related discipline with a minimum of lower credit from any government-approved Polytechnic in Nigeria.
- Third-class degree in Agricultural Extension

Step 1: Create a Profile
To get started, you need to create a profile on the LAUTECH Open and Distance Learning portal.
Visit the LAUTECH ODL registration page here and enter your name as it appears on your supporting documents (O’level, birth certificate etc).
Step 2: Make Payment
After creating your profile, log in to the website with your email address and password. You will be redirected to the payment page.
Click on the process payment button to complete your payment.
Step 3: Fill the Form
Log in once again and fill in your details on the LAUTECH ODL portal. You will need to fill in your next of kin, upload a passport photograph and your educational credentials.
Step 4: Preview and Submit
Once you are done filling, preview the information to make sure every detail is correct. If correct, click the submit button and print the completed form. You will need this during screening.
