List of LASCOHET Courses and Requirements
The Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET) offers a variety of health-related courses. In this post, you get the list of LASCOHET courses and the requirements to study any of the courses. College of Health Technology, Lagos offers diploma and certificates programs.
Some of the courses offered are two or three years programs. LASCOHET certificates are viable as they can be used to work in health-related firms in Nigeria or abroad.
The total number of LASCOHET courses is 12. Though more courses may be added in the future.
List of LASCOHET Courses and Requirements
Below is the list of courses offered in Lagos State College of Health Technology and the subjects required to study them;
1. CERTIFICATE IN JUNIOR COMMUNITY HEALTH (JCHEW)
Leading to the award of JCHEW Certificate. This certificate is licensed by the National Community of Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria.
Requirements: Three Credit passes in the following subjects: Mathematics, English Language, Biology/Health Science, Pass in Chemistry and One Pass in any of the following subjects;
- Economics.
- Account.
- Commerce.
- Physics.
Duration of Course: Two years
2. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH ASSISTANTS: (EHA)
Requirements: Credit Passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, and passes in any of the following Subjects;
- Mathematics.
- Geography.
- Economics.
- Commerce.
- Accounts.
- Food and Nutrition.
- Technical Drawing.
Duration of course: Two years.
3. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN: (EHT)
Requirements: At least a Credit Pass in Biology, Chemistry, English language, Mathematics, and passes in any of the following Subjects;
- Physics.
- Commerce.
- Economics.
- Geography.
- Accounts.
- Food and Nutrition.
- Technical Drawing.
Duration of course: Two years.
4. Higher Diploma Programmes
This program leads to the award of Higher Diploma Certificate and Professional Certification and Licensing by the Nigeria Council of Physician of Natural Medicine.
Options available for Higher Diploma programs include the following;
- Chiropractic.
- Osteopathic.
- Naturopathy.
- Acupuncture.
- Homeopathy.
Requirements for Admission:
- A diploma certificate in complementary health sciences or it’s equivalent
- A technician certificate in any health or medical-related field
A minimum of 5 Credit Passes in SSCE, NECO, GCE or its equivalent in any of the following subjects;
- English Language.
- Mathematics.
- Biology/Health Science.
- Physics.
- Chemistry.
Duration of course: Two years.
5. Higher National Diploma (HND) in Environmental Health Technology.
Requirements: Applicants must possess a National Diploma (ND) certificate in Environmental Health Technology (Check number 3 above).
Duration of course: Two years.
6. Health Information Management (HIM) Direct Entry
Requirements: A Certificate in Health Information Management Assistant and 5 Credit in the following subjects;
- English Language.
- Biology.
- Mathematics.
- And any other two subjects.
Duration of course: Two years.
7. Medical Laboratory Technician (Conversion)
Requirements: Holders of Medical Laboratory Assistant certificate and 5 credits in the following subjects;
- English Language.
- Biology.
- Mathematics.
- And any other two subjects.
Duration of course: Two years.
8. School of Community Health
A diploma in community health (CHEW) Leading to the award of CHEW Certificate and licensing by the National Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (NCHPB).
Requirements: Five credit passes in the following subjects;
- Biology/Health Science.
- Chemistry.
- English Language.
- Mathematics.
and any other one subject from Economics, Commerce, Accounts, Physics.
Duration of course: Three years.
9. School of Complementary Health Science
Requirements: A minimum of 5 Credit Passes in SSCE, WASCE, GCE or its equivalent in the following subjects;
- English Language.
- Mathematics
- Biology/Health Science.
- Physics.
- Chemistry.
Duration of course: Two years.
10. School of Environmental Health
Leading to a National Diploma Certificate in Environmental Health Technology.
Requirements: Five Credit Passes in any of the following subjects;
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Biology.
- Chemistry.
And one relevant subject from Geography, Food & Nutrition, Technical Drawing, Economics, Accounts, Commerce, and Physics.
1B. Holders of Pre-National Diploma (Certificate in Health Technician Programme).
Duration of course: Â Two years.
11. School of Health Information Management
Technician Certificate in Health Information Management (HIM) Leading to the award of HIM Technician Certificate and licensing by the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigerian (HRORBN).
Requirements: A minimum of five credits in the following subjects;
- English Language.
- Mathematics.
- Biology/Health Science.
- Chemistry.
- Physics.
- And any other one subjects.
Duration of course: Three years.
12. School of Medical Laboratory Science.
Technician Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science; Leading to the award of Technician Certificate of Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria.
Requirements: Five credit passes including in the following subjects;
- English Language.
- Mathematics.
- Chemistry.
- Biology.
- Any other Science Subject.
- At least a pass in Physics.
Results should be complete at not more than two sittings.
Duration of course: Three years.
13. School of Pharmacy
Certificate in Pharmacy Technician (Leading to the award of Diploma in Pharmacy Technician).
Requirements: Five credit passes in the following subjects;
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology.
Duration of course: Three years.
14. Technician Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences in Phlebotomy.
Requirements: Five credit passes in the following subjects;
- English Language.
- Mathematics.
- Chemistry.
- Biology.
- And any other Subject from Physics and Economics.
Duration of course: Three years.
